Me and Stepin follows the story of “Richie,” a singer-actor-dancer “pounding that hard-ass pavement.” His life is forever changed when he’s visited by the spirit of the notorious” stereotypic” early Hollywood Black film star, Stepin Fetchit. “...What the hell was that about? “It’s like in A Christmas Carol: The ghost of negroes past.” McCall’s genius is that, through his unique comic sensibility, he manages to make the racism and hardship he’s experienced genuinely funny. McCall, a born entertainer, has a career spanning four decades of singing on street corners, working in theme parks, cabaret, Yiddish theatre, regional theatre, national tours…
